In 2018, a series of wildfires caused the loss of countless lives and structures throughout California. On a local level, the air quality index (AQI) in the San Francisco Bay Area reached some of the worst recorded levels in history. We took the opportunity to speak with people on the street about their respiratory protection habits in exchange for a free mask with the goal of understanding how to improve disaster readiness and mask usage.
